Goosewell Primary

Goosewell Primary is a large academy in Plymstock, Plymouth. Serving 560 pupils from its busy suburban site, the Academy’s leaders identified a need to enhance its safeguarding provision around the school’s extensive perimeter. The academy’s fencing to much of its boundary previously comprised low-level bow top and chain-link fences, while other areas lacked fencing completely. The inconsistent fencing required bringing up to current standards of security.

Jarman Ward was instructed by Reach South Academy Trust to carry out a comprehensive safeguarding feasibility study and provide cost estimates to assist the Trust’s decision makers with effective budget planning. A high-security, low-maintenance steel mesh fencing system in the academy’s chosen colour was specified to provide secure yet unobtrusive perimeter protection. Combined with a modern remote access control and CCTV system, the proposed works offered the Trust a reliable, cost-effective solution to its boundary security concerns. The works were procured for by Jarman Ward through a single-stage tender process. With the benefit of a thorough tender analysis report, the Trust was able to appoint a specialist contractor with the assurance that the works would be delivered to a high standard and within budget. 

Jarman Ward managed the construction phase through to completion, administering the contract and assisting all stakeholders in overcoming the unique challenges that come with working in live school environments. The finished fencing, CCTV and access control systems have created a safer environment for the whole school community while helping the Trust to fulfil its safeguarding obligations.
