Jarman Ward was appointed by Reach South Academy Trust to carry out a survey of the academy’s roof structure, including invasive investigatory work with the aid of specialist roofing contractors, due to ongoing water ingress at the site. Following site investigations, a comprehensive defect diagnosis and feasibility report was produced for the Trust outlining several repair options, each supported by a cost-benefit analysis to reduce cost uncertainty and support the Trust’s decision makers with effective budget planning. Jarman Ward’s broad industry knowledge and experience in school refurbishments allowed for the specification of application-appropriate, tried and tested roof repair systems with the reassurance of long-term insurance backed warranties, offering the Trust valuable peace of mind.

When instructed to carry the works forward, Jarman Ward worked with Reach South Academy Trust to employ a reputable roofing contractor experienced at working with the challenges of a busy school environment. Jarman Ward’s extensive public sector procurement experience and its track record of successfully delivering education projects ensured that best value would be delivered for the Trust. 

Refurbishment and improvement works were carried out to both the pitched and flat roofs of the academy, ready for the failing flat roof covering to receive a UV-stable, elastomeric waterproofing coating, extending the life of the roof by a minimum of twenty years. Work was carried out to the roofs with minimal disruption to the academy while lessons continued in the classrooms below. The roof repair works have improved the learning environment at Pilgrim Primary Academy, allowing it to continue to deliver excellent education to its pupils without the added worry of a leaking roof.
